BASIC FUNCTION:
Perform a variety of technical duties involved in the installation, maintenance and repair of computer and network systems and related software and peripherals; provide computer and network support to meet the needs of school personnel; train and provide guidance to designated Network Technicians.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination equivalent to: graduated from high school with college-level course work in computer science or related field preferred and three years increasingly responsible experience involving the installation, maintenance and repair of computer hardware, software, networks and peripherals. If the incumbent does not meet the stated qualifications but possesses a high school diploma and basic knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer hardware, software, networks and peripherals, they can be selected for this position but must remain in the lowest three pay steps on the schedule until the qualifications can be met. Incumbents must have strong office, computer and oral and written communication skills. Incumbents must possess knowledge of the technical aspects, methods, processes, principles, practices, procedures and terminology used in assigned field. Incumbents must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Install, configure, modify and maintain computer software and peripherals to assure the smooth running of computer work stations; respond to user needs and requests; configure hardware and software to assure proper computer operations and network connectivity.
2. Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve/report hardware, software and application malfunctions; install, configure, maintain and repair a variety of peripherals and network components such as servers, hubs, switches, routers, cabling, modems and printers as required.
3. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve wired and wireless connectivity issues with computer and tablet devices.
4. Maintain and administer deployment of approved software and applications through device management and remote administrator tools.
5. Perform a variety of network administration activities including establishing and maintaining user accounts, e-mail accounts, internet connectivity and security applications as assigned; monitor, maintain and assure security of network servers.
6. Prepare computer work stations for staff or student use in individual and lab settings; install, upgrade and update computer software and applications as needed; observe elements of computers, tablets, networks and systems for evidence of incorrect performance and make adjustments as needed.
7. Train and provide guidance to designated Network Technicians; assist employees with performing duties as needed; demonstrate proper job performance skills including problem-solving and record-keeping functions.
8. Provide technical training and assistance to District personnel concerning the operation of computer hardware, software and peripherals as needed; respond to inquiries and provide detailed and technical information concerning related practices, procedures, applications and malfunctions.
9. Research, evaluate and recommend the purchase of new hardware and software to meet user needs as directed; test and evaluate new systems, hardware and software to assist in identifying technology solutions for user needs.
10. Inspect a variety of audio-visual equipment such as projectors, amplifiers, televisions, video and cassette recorders, DVD players and language labs to assure proper functioning; troubleshoot, diagnose and repair malfunctions.
11. Maintain audio-visual equipment in proper operating condition; repair or replace defective parts and components as necessary; clean, adjust and lubricate parts and components; dissemble and assemble equipment and devices as needed.
12. Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in computer hardware, software and networks.
13. Prepare, develop and update technical documentation concerning computer and network systems as assigned.
14. Maintain various records related to assigned activities.
15. Perform related duties as assigned by the Administrator to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD:

New employees must successfully complete their probationary period to be eligible to apply for posted positions. Employees must remain in their current position sixty (60) calendar days to be eligible to apply for posted positions. Current employees may only apply for lateral positions outside of their unit at the end of the current school year when probation has been successfully completed.

They may be regularly required to push, pull, lift or carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job the incumbent will be seated, standing, or walking.
