Learning Resource Library Assistant

Position Summary:
Assists librarian in daily operations in the Learning Resource Library
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Opens Learning Resource Library Monday through Friday morning, and assists patrons throughout the library and circulation desk. Assists in the preparation of placing orders, creates initial purchase orders in the university business portal. Creates and maintains current vendor files for the Learning Resource Library. Monitors all ordering activity from point of order until delivered. Corresponds regularly with the Learning Resource Library Coordinator comparing budget expenditures and balances. Serves as purchasing agent for ordering library supplies. Perform tasks and special projects as assigned by the Learning Resource Library Coordinator. Attends professional workshops to enhance knowledge and skills. Along with the librarian, shares oversight, training and evaluations of five student workers. Develops and participates in instructional programming and library promotion. Responsible for the Learning Resource Library book repair and processing. Assists in fulfilling daily operations of the Learning Resource Library including, but not limited to: assisting patrons, shelving books, circulation, reading shelves, completing orders for die cuts and lamination.Supervisory Responsibilities
Assists in the oversight of student workers; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training of the student employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Bookkeeping ability. Keep learning resource library budget up to date and rectifies all transactions each month.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; OCLC and Library Automation Systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software; ability to use Google Docs or similar software.
