Department Summary

University Health Services (UHS) is a unit within the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management and is a nationally accredited (AAAHC) outpatient clinic providing primary care to students at the University of Oregon. All staff are required to uphold the values of the UHS.

This position works in support of the University Health Services mission and vision and is consistent with UO policy. Some aspects of this position may be completed in collaboration with other University departments.

Position Summary

The Psychologist Resident is a 12-month, full-time position reporting to a member of the Counseling Services leadership team. This position is intended to provide advanced practice and supervision subsequent to a doctoral internship as preparation for university counseling services professional work. Training is primarily experiential in that most of the Psychologist Resident’s time will be spent providing clinical, consultation, and outreach programs and services. Supervision will be geared toward skill development, completion of licensure requirements, and professional development issues. The Psychologist Resident will provide a variety of clinical services consistent with the UCS’s collaborative care model (e.g., initial assessment, individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention); consultation to faculty, staff, and parents and families of students; and educational outreach to the campus community.

Additionally, the Psychologist Resident will choose a specialty area for advanced practice, based on the professional interests of the therapist and the needs of the department (including, but not limited to, outreach to special populations or working with underrepresented students, specialty clinical areas including trauma, suicide assessment, and intervention, training and supervision, behavioral health specialty in medical clinics). It is expected that the Psychologist Resident will be actively pursuing licensure during the appointment year and will submit an application for licensure residency prior to the position start date. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.

This position may be renewed for a second year based on funding, space, clinical considerations, and performance of the Psychologist Resident. However, a second-year reappointment is not guaranteed.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System of Award Management (SAM). In addition, employees must follow Compliance with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis screening, measles and mumps (MMR), seasonal flu, hepatitis B, and other immunization requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Successful completion of an APA- or CPA-accredited doctoral internship prior to start date.
• Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program. Degree must be granted prior to the start date.
• Eighteen months of experience with a variety of clinical issues with adult populations, ranging from developmental issues to more serious psychopathology.
