DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

QUALIFICATIONS :

Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Valid administrative certification. Minimum of five years successful teaching experience and previous experience as a building or central office administrator. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Mastery techniques for the establishment of satisfactory relationships with central staff, principals, teachers, parents, and students. Advance graduate work in education in the areas of educational leadership, supervision and/or instructional practices preferred. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO : Superintendent of Schools 

SUPERVISES : K-12 Principals, Safety and Security Staff, Athletics / Athletic Directors, Director of Technology 

JOB GOAL : Support the Superintendent and the school district through implementation of school plans, policies, and programs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision, support, and evaluation of building principals. Oversee the operation of schools. Serves as resource to the Superintendent at Board of Education meetings. Implements contractual requirements for the supervision and evaluation of instructional personnel. Develops and implements a schedule of formal and informal monitoring visits to schools to maintain close contact with the educational process. Supervision, support, and evaluation of Director of Technology. Serve as a member of the Board of Education’s negotiating team, as needed. Serve as District’s lead school safety and security officer and lead the District’s Crisis Response Team and plan. Supervise the District’s athletic program. Coordinate the district accreditation process. Participates in staff selection processes. Participates as a permanent member of the Executive Staff and Administrative Cabinet Team. Assist in the monitoring of District policies and the development and monitoring of the District’s administrative regulations. Coordinates and oversees student discipline hearings. Represents the district on various regional, state and national committees, councils and organizations involved in curriculum and instruction. Acts as a liaison between the School District and: State Department of EducationIntermediate School DistrictAppropriate private and university centers  Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
