Our client, a highly respected heavy civil contractor, is looking for an Estimator/Project Manager with Earthwork / Site Development experience to join their dynamic team.  The right candidate will have at least 5 years experience in estimating for earthwork construction  with a degree in civil engineering or construction management.

Position Overview: The Project Manager-Estimator is responsible for overseeing and managing the planning, execution, and estimation of construction projects related to earthwork and site development. This role requires a strong understanding of construction practices, project management principles, and cost estimation techniques. The Project Manager-Estimator will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery within budget and schedule constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to develop project plans, specifications, and timelines.
  • Ensure that all project activities adhere to relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for bridge construction projects, considering factors such as labor, materials, equipment, permits, and overhead costs.
  • Analyze project scope and specifications to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Develop bid documents and proposals for potential projects, outlining project scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain competitive bids for various project components.
  • Lead project teams by setting clear goals, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track project milestones, schedules, and budgets, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, changes, and any potential issues.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address challenges that may arise during construction.
  • Implement proactive measures to ensure safety and compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Monitor project quality to ensure workmanship, materials, and construction methods meet industry standards and project specifications.
  • Conduct inspections and quality assurance checks to identify and resolve deviations from project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including contracts, change orders, progress reports, and correspondence.
  • Prepare regular reports for management and stakeholders, summarizing project progress, challenges, and financial status.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager and Estimator in earthwork projects.
  • Proficiency in project management software, cost estimation tools, and scheduling software.
  • Strong understanding of construction codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) are advantageous.
