Generation Operations Technology Engineer

Under the direction of the Manager, Generation Operations Technology, this job is responsible for providing technology and engineering support of the systems and technologies that are encompassed within the Plant Operational and Control Systems. These systems include Generation Control Systems, Historians, Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems, Reliability and Predictive Maintenance Systems, Cyber Security requirements and all the technology-based ancillary systems that are directly involved in support of the previously listed systems. Provide architecture design, software configuration/programming, interface connectivity, database support, project management, and advanced technical support for these mission critical systems. Responsible for the design support of new systems including programs, reports, systems interface specifications, testing, debugging, and documentation.

The Generation Operations Technology team is responsible for planning, designing, maintaining, and commissioning Industrial Control Systems, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems, Distributed Control Systems, and various other operational and control systems. 

Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. Preferred degree in Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. Must have satisfactory work record including good attendance. Operations Technology experience and proven leadership abilities preferred. Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and design theory required. Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
Requires knowledge of basic engineering principles and advanced mathematics. Must be proficient in the ability to use database, spreadsheet, word processing, applicable engineering software applications, and technology management software. The above systems responsibilities are accomplished by vendor specialized training and knowledge in using vendor proprietary tools along with industry standard tools. Successful candidate must be able to evaluate, select, and apply standard procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
Valid driver's license required. 

Working Conditions:
Conditions will vary between office and field environments. Time will be spent in an office as well as the field environment with hands-on work. Travel will be required to support field personnel. Additional overnight travel may be required. Work may require additional hours including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to support a 24 hour per day/seven day per week environment. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
