Additionally, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for various financial management tasks to ensure the fiscal health and efficiency of the organization. Position works onsite and may require hours beyond a standard work week to support business operations. Responsibilities: 1. Financial Management: Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls. Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Monitor cash flow, budgets, and financial performance metrics to support decision-making processes. Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management based on analysis of financial data. Assist with audits and regulatory compliance requirements as needed. Coordinates with and prepares reports for CFO, controller, and upper management. An understanding of Program Management with the ability to assist in budget development, variance analysis and contractually required reporting. ​​2. General Accounting: Oversee general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes. Review and analyze financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness. Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. Assist with the preparation of tax filings and other statutory reporting requirements. Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed. Performs or assists with preparation of accounting information for internal and external review, analysis and/or audit.  Analyze contracts and agreements to determine appropriate revenue recognition timing and methods. Collaborate with project managers and other departments to gather necessary information for revenue recognition purposes. Prepare revenue reports and forecasts for management review. 3. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency within the finance department. Provide training and support to junior staff members as needed. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the finance team. Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles. Must have a valid CPA (certain experience or relevant certifications may be considered in leu of CPA). Must have a strong understanding of revenue recognition principles, general accounting standards, as well as various accounting compliance regulations. Knowledge of FAR/DFAR accounting guidelines highly preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems/programs. Must have excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail. Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Must have commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards in financial practices. Preferred Requirements: Prior CostPoint experience highly preferred. Physical Requirements: Sit, Stand, Walk, Bend, Squat, Climb, Reach, Push and Pull, Stoop, Crawl, Kneel, Balance, Lift and Carry various objects and equipment. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 30% of the time. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there is minimal exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Hear, talk, and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available, but also requires safe navigation and regular partnership with operations teams within shipyard/industrial environments.
