Southwire designs manufactures markets andimplements High Voltage Underground Cable and Systems in NorthAmerica. Southwires strategy is to aggressively grow its salesvolume in HV underground cables accessories and installation aswell as its cable systems related portfolio of ancillary productsand services. This Sr. High Voltage Cable Design Engineeringposition encompasses the design and analysis of parts componentsassemblies and subassemblies of underground HV/EHV transmissioncable systems and the production of associated drawings andinstructions. This position will assist the engineering manager inleading and training the High Voltage cable engineering team. Underlimited direction this individual will perform a variety of complexengineering assignments requiring indepth knowledge of electricalengineering plus an understanding of related highvoltage equipmentand engineering aspects to cost effectively achieve objectives.Individual will proactively seek and implement initiatives toimprove operations and increase customersatisfaction.

Underlimited direction design complete cable system solutions includingaccessories link boxes fiber optic components grounding details andbonding schemes for voltage classes 69kV up to 500kV using advancedcomputer programs analytical techniques or control strategies toeffectively meet project/bid requirements and resolveproblems.

Represent Southwire as asubject matter expert in studying the electromechanical behavior ofHV/EHV cable systems to support installation and infieldapplications.

Lead the preparation ofspecifications proposals for contracts licensing and safetydocuments and obtain required approvals in cooperation with theSales & Marketing and Project Management teams. Revise andimprove existing processes to achieve greater efficiency.

Support manufacturing throughout the productioncycle. This includes creating testing plans leading design handovermeetings and solving problems on the manufacturing floor. Makerecommendations as needed to facilitate between productioninstallation and the customer.

Act as principalinvestigator or lead a group of engineers investigating problemsdeveloping solutions and preparing related recommendations andreports. Execute Research & Development projects includingplanning timeline forecast budget management logistics coordinationusing the Stage Gate process.

Represent the HVengineering group in meetings and conferences; interact withcustomers to provide training seminars as well as resolvesignificant technical issues and develop related action plans. Makeformal technical presentations to customers and to industry forumsand at conferences.

Train educate and assistjunior level engineers with their projects and calculations.

Promote safety in the workplace and all projectsites following Southwires Culture of ZERO.

Bachelors degree in electricalengineering or related field plus 10 years of experience or aspecial combination of education and experience and/or demonstratedaccomplishments

Thorough working knowledge ofunderground power transmission engineering discipline plus anunderstanding of related disciplines to coordinate activitiesanalyze and resolve problems. Technical input recommendations anddecisions may impact the organizations effectiveness and customerrelations.

Proficiency in requirements of ICEAAEIC IEC and IEEE standards as well as thermal mechanical andelectrical field calculations

Ability to readand analyze engineering drawings

Strongtechnical writing ability and solid communication skills. Requiresability to interface with customers and internally with Southwirepersonnel and leadership.

Expertise in softwarepackages including Cymcap Comsol Multiphysics SolidWorks AutoCADMatlab PSCAD Pull Planner and Microsoft Office Suite

Knowledge of power transmission cable industry andmarkets

Strong working knowledge of cablematerials testing process etc.

Proficiency invisual basic and similar programming languages primarily for use incoding spreadsheets and macros within Microsoft Excel
