Job Description:

We are looking for driven, goal-oriented leaders to build a career at Tommy White Supply Company (TWS). This is a mid-career leader sales position in our counter area. We are looking for a talented, high potential individual with a desire to grow and learn continuously.

Our Lead Counter Sales Representative is responsible for order entry, phone orders, pulling orders for walk-in customers, as well as maintaining counter appearance. This position also assists in the daily clerical and administrative tasks for counter sales in the branch. The Lead provides guidance in the counter sales area and will generate revenue by soliciting and acquiring orders.

Responsibilities include:  

Speaking with customers by phone or in person to receive orders for products. Promote the sale of new or additional products. Assist with the resolution of issues that arise in the sales, inventory or warehouse areas of the branch. Intercede when necessary in dealing with customers, vendors and manufacturers. Assist to ensure that all company processes are followed by all support departments. Communicate and disseminate sales information as needed. Assist in ensuring that the sales team is being held accountable for their responsibilities. Perform all duties of a counter sales representative. Appropriate use of company and/or customer pricing systems. Must be able to describe/demonstrate products, using samples or catalog, and emphasizing features. Provide verbal and written quotations or estimates of prices, terms and delivery for standard, complex or non-standard merchandise. Prepare cash or charge sales tickets with required identification, necessary information for customer, merchandise, price, and sales tax status for processing, shipment and delivery of merchandise in a timely manner. Follows up with any specific record-keeping requirements. Picking orders from inventory. Reporting inventory shortages and recommending new orders. Project a positive company image when delivering directly to our customers. Ability to assist warehouse personnel with the following, but not limited to: warehouse housekeeping duties, withdrawal of merchandise to fill orders, packaging and labeling of orders, storing and shelving of merchandise, relocation and/or rearrangement of stock as required. Other responsibilities may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements:  

Knowledge of branch product lines. Knowledge of shipping and receiving practices. Knowledge of Company policies and procedures. Skill in organizing and prioritizing personnel and work activities. Ability to effectively communicate. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from small groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to perform math functions representative of the job such as; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and metric scales; computing rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs; calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and proportions. Possess in-depth knowledge of TWS computer systems, Microsoft Office, etc.
