Job Description

The Baker School of Business and Technology seeks a full-time tenure track faculty member for the Marketing Communications department with specialized expertise in media planning. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience as a media planner or brand strategist, either within an advertising agency or in an in-house role. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in designing and executing local, regional, national advertising media campaigns across a diverse range of sectors, including packaged goods, retail, and financial services. Experience with both traditional and digital media channels, including emerging platforms and technologies, is essential.

Primary responsibilities include delivering engaging lectures that promote active learning and encourage creative and analytical thinking. The new faculty member will be expected to develop and expand the curriculum in the areas of media research, strategic marketing campaigns, advertising strategy and mix, launch plans, while addressing various media platforms,

Additional responsibilities include advising students, mentoring, facilitating internships, alumni engagement, department meetings, and participating in industry functions. The new faculty member will serve on department, school, and college-wide committees, support accreditation, and participate in administrative activities as required.

Maintain industry connections to introduce new methodologies into the curriculum. Use the college's learning management system to assess monitoring and reporting. Create collaborative, real-world problem-solving experiences. Incorporate diverse instructional methods to service students of different backgrounds and abilities.

Learning Enrichment

Inspire student's interest, curiosity, creativity, and love of learning. Use various instructional methods to foster critical thinking, design thinking, creative problem-solving and team-building skills. Integrate interdisciplinary learning into the curriculum. Stay current with industry trends and technology, incorporating them into the curriculum. Embrace new pedagogy forms, including online teaching, blended classes, workshops, flipped classrooms, and experiential learning. Support diverse student learning styles and abilities.

Professionalism

Engage in industry-related activities to enhance the discipline. Participate in relevant business conferences.  Maintain a network of alumni and industry experts for internships, mentors, curriculum development, guest speaking, and graduate placement. Stay current and engaged in the primary teaching discipline. Model professional behavior to prepare students for related industry fields.

Technology

Utilize course management systems and multimedia technology in the classroom. Demonstrate effective use of industry-specific tools and software for teaching. Use appropriate technology to communicate with and engage students outside the classroom.


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have MBA or master's degree in communications or related field, or enrolled in a master's degree program, in progress, to completion. Minimum of ten years experience in media planning across different mediums.

Preferred Qualifications:

College-level teaching or instructional experience. Portfolio (CV) that showcases a range of successful media campaigns. Terminal degree in a field related to marketing or communications.
