Job Description

Purpose

The Transportation Coordinator will coordinate logistics of cranes, communicating effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams, to ensure the smooth execution of transportation operations and control cost.

Duties and Responsibilities

Partner with Operations to coordinate the build of load sheets for both national and local freight moves. Schedule movement of cranes and crane components with internal or external trucking Maintain delivery schedules and tracking to ensure timely delivery of freight load. Update and provide tracking information to internal business partners. Partner with Regional Crawler Managers to locate and transport crawler components for assemblies or reconfigurations. Responsible for monitoring and reporting driver issues such as accidents, safety concerns, etc. Coordinate external freight bids for combination of service and cost to select best carrier partner. Partner with internal permit department to ensure freight movements are compliant. Coordinates with the local Branch Manager and Dispatchers to determine efficient scheduling of equipment that utilizes branch-level and Maxim resources in the most cost-effective manner. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

Education:

High School diploma or GED

Experience:

3+ years of construction, or fleet related industry with transportation or heavy equipment experience preferable 3+ years’ experience using CMMS system (JD Edwards) in dispatcher or scheduling role

Skills/Knowledge:

Advanced computer skills (, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) Advanced knowledge of local geography Advanced knowledge of CMMS system Advanced ability to build strategic internal and external working relationships Excellent time management and communication skills Moderate level understanding of OSHA, ANSI, ASME, other applicable safety requirements for the use of cranes and hoists, and the construction industry in general Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and fit for duty test.

Language Skills:

Must be able to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence and memos and the ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
