What you will do

Johnson Controls invites you to apply for an internship located in Sanford, NC. This internship is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives. You will be working under the direction of Francisco Silva, Engineering Manager. Specific identified internship responsibilities are outlined below.

How you will do it:

  • Timeframe will be a full-time summer 2024 internship (12 weeks).
  • Work / Support with manufacturing team to establish sequence of operations used in Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement processes.
  • Strong interaction with production / operations & quality departments to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Provide support and assistance to CI & Manufacturing team members, in the development of projects such as Kaizen events, development and implementation of 5s.
  • Contribute ideas to improve Visual Factory & increase productivity in specific assembly lines.
  • Design improvements in the process of material flow and transportation in the plant (carts, cabinets, etc.)

What we look for in Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering
  • U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical/ Industrial Engineering
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of lean production processes
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) preferred
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills required
