Job DescriptionBack Bay Veterinary Clinic is currently seeking a Surgical Veterinary Technician to join our team. Our practice is focused and committed to exceptional quality veterinary medicine, client education and customer service. We offer health and dental insurance as well as a 401k plan, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, MBTA Subsidy and paid incentives.Qualifying candidates must be able to perform the following:Admit patients scheduled for surgery and dentistryPrepare instruments and know types of surgical instruments required for specific surgeriesPrepare gown and surgical packsPrepare surgery suite for surgeryPrepare instruments; know type of surgical instruments required for specific surgeriesSurgical preparation of patientAnesthesia monitoring and maintenance of anesthesia machinesIntubationIV catheter placementDrug calculationsAssist veterinarian performing surgeryMonitor patients waking up from anesthesiaCPRCleaning and scaling of teethTranscription of prescriptionsGathering an appropriate medical historyExcellent client communication skillsSample collectionDental and Body radiographic positioningOutstanding computer skills for electronic medical recordsThe ideal candidate will be able to work independently, possess interpersonal skills to develop long standing relationships with co-workers and clients alike. You must also display an innate capacity to provide attentive care to companion animals.
