Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for a dedicated Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team in Albany, New York. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of accounts payable processes, particularly within project-driven or construction environments. This role will focus on ensuring accurate financial records, maintaining vendor relationships, and supporting job cost management. Responsibilities: - Process vendor invoices with accuracy, ensuring they are properly allocated to the appropriate jobs and commitments. - Identify and resolve any discrepancies, including commitment variances and budget overages, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. - Generate and review monthly accounts payable aging reports for management approval. - Coordinate and execute monthly check runs, ensuring timely payments with proper authorization. - Reconcile vendor statements on a monthly basis to ensure all expenses are recorded in the appropriate accounting period. - Support the tracking of job costs and commitments to maintain accurate financial reporting. - Collaborate with project managers and internal departments to address any accounts payable concerns. - Maintain organized records of invoices, payments, and relevant documentation for audit purposes. Requirements - At least 2 years of accounts payable experience, preferably in a construction or project-based environment. - Familiarity with construction accounting principles. - Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar platforms. - Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external vendors. - Associate degree in a related field is preferred. - Experience processing invoices, managing check runs, and reconciling vendor accounts. - Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while meeting deadlines.
