GIS Project Manager III

We are hiring a Senior Project Manager for our energy client, one of the largest natural gas utility providers in the U.S. In this PM role, you will lead large-scale implementation and optimization of Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions supporting Transmission and Large Pipeline partners. You'll play a key role in developing and improving GIS processes to improve operational efficiency and data integration, working closely with stakeholders across engineering, IT, and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead GIS process improvement and implementation projects from requirements gathering through successful rollout across multiple natural gas distribution subsidiaries.
  • Conduct discovery sessions and stakeholder interviews with GIS Analysts and Engineers to assess how spatial data is currently collected, validated, and loaded into the GIS platform.
  • Design and implement standardized GIS data intake and quality control processes to streamline data management workflows.
  • Partner cross-functionally with IT, engineering, and operations teams to ensure seamless rollout and adoption of new GIS solutions.
  • Build and maintain detailed project plans outlining scope, objectives, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Track project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders, proactively addressing issues or scope changes.
  • Document clear meeting notes and action logs to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment across project stakeholders.
  • Standardize GIS data workflows through clear documentation and reusable reference materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • PMP or GISP certification required.
  • 5+ years of experience as a GIS or IT Project Manager.
  • Hands-on experience leading GIS or technology implementation projects from start to finish.
  • Background in Natural Gas Utility, Pipeline, or Energy industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with enterprise GIS platforms such as Esri ArcGIS.
  • Proficiency with standard project management tools such as MS Project or Jira.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills across business and technical stakeholders.
