French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Staff Engineer for our Structural Department in Newark, NJ.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the analysis and design of building structures using steel, concrete, masonry, and timber materials.
  • Prepare structural calculations, design drawings, and specifications under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Perform modeling and analysis using structural design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, RAM, or similar).
  • Coordinate with architects and other engineering disciplines to develop integrated design solutions.
  • Conduct site visits, field inspections, and assist in preparing technical reports.
  • Support project documentation, quality control reviews, and construction administration tasks.
  • Participate in internal design discussions and contribute innovative ideas to improve design efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering (preferred) or Civil Engineering with a focus on structures.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in building design.
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain within one year required; PE license a plus.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, as well as AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Strong understanding of building codes and design standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Compensation
The projected compensation range for this position is $70,000 to $77,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
