Position Description
In this role, you will be leading projects related to product design and development, designing complex systems to perform detailed data analysis around fracture mechanics, ensuring compliance with internal and industry accepted practices. Your primary goal will be to understand and learn all design and development aspects related to our Blade Toughness Meter (BTM) technology and to contribute to development of additional functionality and efficiencies related to this technology. Travel requirements could be up to 20%. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work directly with our operations, commercialization and sales functional teams and will report to the Director of Product Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Lead mechanical design and development projects from concept to production, managing timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Technical Design: Design, develop, and implement mechanical components, systems, and assemblies using 3D CAD (Solid works preferred) and simulations.
- Analysis & Simulation: Perform detailed engineering analysis and calculations, including fracture mechanics, FEA, Tolerance stack ups, structural integrity using simulation tools.
- dFx: Product design mindset for product repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R)
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing, quality, and other teams to ensure integrated and successful solutions.
- Documentation: Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, reports, and BOM structures.
- Testing & Validation: Oversee the testing and validation of prototypes and systems to meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize designs and processes.
- Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to relevant health, safety, environmental, and industry standards and codes.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Strong technical background with the ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic and data analysis background leveraging large data sets in data models
- 5-7 years of experience in product development/management or system architecture roles
- Proven experience with system-level architecture and cross-disciplinary product development.
- Strong understanding of product development life cycle, MATLAB data analysis, and hardware integration.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder alignment skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hands-on R&D organization.
- Willingness to travel as required to meet with customers and attend industry events.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred – Experience and knowledge of pipeline material verification technologies, applications, and associated pipeline regulations.
Job Location
This position requires an on-site presence at our Natick, MA office.
Compensation and Benefits
MMT offers a competitive compensation package including base salary and a performance-based annual bonus. Base Salary is targeted to be between $115,000 - $130,000. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision and life insurance, PTO, LTD and 401(k).
