DescriptionFacilities Technician, First Presbyterian Church of Dallas & Day School

First Presbyterian Church of Dallas and its Day School are seeking a dedicated and skilled Facilities Technician to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for our congregation, students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong work ethic and the ability to manage a diverse range of tasks independently.

This full-time position reports directly to the Facilities Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building Maintenance: Perform general maintenance and repairs across the church and day school facilities, including but not limited to carpentry, painting, drywall, and minor roof repairs.

  • HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing: Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on HVAC systems, electrical fixtures and wiring, and plumbing systems. Coordinate with external contractors for more complex issues as needed.

  • Restroom Cleaning & Sanitation: Ensure all restrooms are consistently clean, sanitized, and well-stocked throughout the day, particularly during peak usage periods and events.

  • Event Support: Efficiently set up and break down furniture, equipment, and other necessary items for church services, day school activities, and special events, often requiring weekend availability.

  • Preventative Maintenance: Implement and maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule for all building systems and equipment to minimize breakdowns and extend asset lifespans.

  • Work Order Management: Utilize and manage a work order system to track, prioritize, and complete maintenance requests from staff in a timely and efficient manner.

  • "Outside the Box" Thinking: Demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness in identifying and implementing innovative solutions to maintenance challenges, often with limited resources.

  • Independent Work: Work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and accountability for assigned tasks.

  • Culture of Care: Uphold the values and culture of care inherent in both the church and day school environments, demonstrating respect and professionalism in all interactions.

  • Other Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager to support the overall operational needs of the church and day school.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in building maintenance, including general repairs, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of maintenance issues independently.

  • Proficiency in using a work order system or similar software.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with maintenance work.

  • Flexibility to work weekends and occasional evenings as required for events.

  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.

  • Experience working in a church or school environment.
