Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented
Natural Gas Document Control Specialist
to join the Project Information Management team supporting the
Natural Gas Major Projects (NGMP)
division. This role will oversee documentation and compliance efforts for up to 30 active construction projects, with a focus on substantiating
Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP)
and ensuring alignment with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
This is a hybrid position based in
Charlotte, NC
, requiring
three days per week on-site
, with occasional additional in-office days as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer the
Project Deliverable Management Plan
in accordance with company specifications and manuals. - Review and manage technical documentation including
alignment sheets
,
pressure test packages
, and
bills of materials (BOMs)
. - Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure compliance with
stage-gate processes
and governance protocols. - Identify deliverable owners, define quality metrics, and validate documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Promote and enforce MAOP and documentation quality standards across project teams.
- Track and report on deliverable timelines, quality benchmarks, and rejection rates.
- Conduct quality control reviews prior to hand-off to data and asset owners.
- Mentor and support junior team members (PIMS I).
- Utilize project tools including
Microsoft Office Suite
,
SharePoint
,
Adobe Pro
, and
EcoSys
.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in document control or project information management.
- Advanced experience beyond basic data entry or legal documentation.
- Background in supporting construction portfolios, especially pipelines, buildings, or transmission lines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint, Adobe Pro, and EcoSys.
- Familiarity with technical documentation such as pressure test packages, material test records, and alignment sheets.
- Associate degree in business, finance, project management, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry experience in utilities, telecommunications, or natural gas.
- Prior involvement in MAOP substantiation or similar regulatory compliance efforts.
- Experience mentoring or training junior staff.
