Position Description

The Commodity Manager for Data Center Strategic Sourcing will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for key commodities and services essential to Modine's Data Center Solutions business. This role will focus on optimizing costs, ensuring supply continuity, and managing supplier relationships within the rapidly evolving data center industry. The successful candidate will leverage strong analytical and negotiation skills to drive value and innovation, supporting the growth and profitability of our data center product portfolio. This position requires a deep understanding of the data center supply chain, market trends, and a proactive approach to strategic sourcing.

This position may be remote or hybrid depending on location, and reports directly to the Global Strategic Sourcing Director for Data Centers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for critical data center commodities, including but not limited to, specialized cooling components, power distribution units, server racks, and related infrastructure.
  • Conduct market analysis, supplier research, and spend analysis to identify new sourcing opportunities and optimize existing supplier relationships.
  • Lead the negotiation of contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings, improve quality, and ensure favorable terms for Modine.
  • Manage supplier performance, conduct regular business reviews, and drive continuous improvement initiatives with key data center suppliers.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, and Product Management teams to understand technical requirements and integrate supplier capabilities into new product development (NPI) for data center solutions.
  • Mitigate supply chain risks by identifying alternative sources, managing inventory levels, and developing contingency plans.
  • Ensure compliance with Modine's procurement policies, ethical sourcing guidelines, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Drive innovation by identifying new technologies and suppliers that can enhance Modine's data center offerings and competitive advantage.
  • Prepare and present reports on sourcing performance, market trends, and cost savings to senior management.
Required Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or commodity management, with significant experience in the data center, HVAC, or electronics industries.
  • Proven track record of successful negotiation, cost reduction, and supplier relationship management.
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, components, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in contract management and legal aspects of procurement.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • CPM or CPSM certification is a plus.
