Position Overview - Teksouth is seeking a dynamic and highly experienced Senior Business Development Manager to significantly drive growth and expand market opportunities within our U.S. Air Force portfolio and other strategic defense sectors. The successful candidate will lead sophisticated business development and capture efforts to proactively shape, pursue, and win high-value opportunities in areas such as advanced data analytics, business intelligence, AI/ML-enabled applications, and software services. This role demands an individual who can autonomously manage a complex portfolio, cultivate executive-level customer relationships, and secure substantial new contracts through disciplined capture management and superior proposal execution. The Senior Manager will strategically partner with internal solution architects, U.S. Government agencies, and key industry stakeholders to co-create and deliver transformative data solutions addressing our nation's most critical challenges.

This position is remote, requiring strategic travel to key customer sites, industry events, and partner locations to foster and expand our business. The successful candidate will serve as the primary customer-facing business development leader for major pursuits and campaigns, collaborating closely with line-of-business and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Growth & Market Shaping: Lead comprehensive business development and capture activities across Teksouth's core technology areas, from proactive opportunity identification and early shaping through compelling proposal submission and contract award.Executive Relationship Management: Cultivate and expand deep, trusted relationships with senior leadership (O-6/GS-15 equivalent and above) within the U.S. Air Force, DoD, and Intelligence Community, as well as key industry partners.Pipeline & Portfolio Management: Develop, manage, and aggressively grow a robust opportunity pipeline of high-value strategic pursuits, ensuring alignment with Teksouth's capabilities and growth objectives.Proactive Opportunity Definition: Drive early-stage opportunity shaping through executive engagements, white papers, technical exchanges, solution demonstrations, and industry forums, positioning Teksouth as the preferred solution provider.Capture Leadership: Lead end-to-end capture activities for multi-million dollar U.S. Air Force and DoD opportunities, from initial strategy development and competitive analysis to solution architecture and partner identification.Solution Development & Articulation: Partner with technical and solution teams to translate complex customer requirements into compelling, data-driven Teksouth solutions that deliver tangible mission impact.Proposal Excellence: Provide leadership and strategic direction in proposal development, including defining win themes, conducting competitive analysis, developing pricing strategies, and ensuring customer-centric messaging.Market Intelligence & Strategy: Conduct continuous market research to identify emerging trends, assess competitive landscapes, and pinpoint new growth opportunities within targeted domains.Partnership & Alliance Building: Identify, evaluate, and establish strategic alliances and teaming arrangements that enhance Teksouth's capabilities and market reach.Investment Oversight: Provide input and oversight into strategic investments for marketing, Bid & Proposal (B&P) activities, and market entry initiatives.Program Expansion: Proactively identify and pursue adjacent opportunities for program expansion and secure new contract vehicles to facilitate future growth.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated track record of independently leading captures and winning new business valued in the multi-million to $100M+ range within the U.S. Federal Government.Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of progressive experience in business development, capture management, or related roles within the federal sector.Extensive, proven experience in business development with the U.S. Air Force and broader DoD; prior military service is highly preferred.Deep understanding of the DoD acquisition lifecycle, regulations (FAR, DFARS), and compliance requirements.Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and executive-level influence skills.Demonstrated ability to develop and nurture long-term strategic customer relationships and effectively drive decision-making.Superior skills in market research, competitive analysis, and strategic planning.A highly motivated, self-starting individual capable of independent work and thriving under aggressive growth targets and pressure.Demonstrated understanding of and ability to articulate the value of:Project and program management methodologiesQualitative and quantitative analysisBusiness intelligence platforms and applicationsData analytics methodologies and use cases (e.g., predictive, prescriptive)

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or Computer Science, with a concentration in Data Analytics, or an MBA.Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI visualization tools.Proven leadership in managing the Capture-to-Proposal process for complex opportunities.Successful track record coordinating multiple high-value sales opportunities simultaneously.Extensive experience building and leveraging business alliances and strategic teaming arrangements.Strong understanding of federal marketing strategies, branding, and message development tailored for the defense sector.Active participation in relevant professional organizations (e.g., AFCEA, AFA, NDIA).Prior Military / Government Service at the O-4/GS-13 level or higher.
