Job Summary
As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of payroll processes within our organization. You will be responsible for managing payroll operations, maintaining employee records, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Your expertise in various payroll systems and accounting principles will help streamline our payroll functions and enhance overall financial accuracy.
What you'll do
- Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time using Quickbooks or similar platforms.
- Maintain employee records, including new hires, terminations, and changes to payroll information.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations while handling tax-related inquiries.
- Collaborate with the HR department to administer benefits and deductions effectively.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Prepare reports related to payroll metrics, including labor costs and tax liabilities.
- Assist in account reconciliation processes for accounts payable and receivable related to payroll transactions.
- Provide support for internal audits and respond to inquiries from management regarding payroll matters.
Basic qualifications
- Proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar financial software.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping, and general ledger accounting.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with governmental accounting practices is advantageous.
- Excellent analysis skills with attention to detail for accurate data entry and reporting.
