Summary:
The Assistant Director, Annual Giving Data and Reporting is responsible for managing the annual giving team's data and reporting needs. The incumbent will effectively identify and translate the business needs and processes to inform the larger strategy for building a robust reporting environment for annual giving. They work closely with team leaders to gather requirements and specifications while developing enhanced data and reporting tools, as well as gain a sense of current shortcomings in reporting technology and devise solutions to enhance reporting. Additionally, the Assistant Director Prepares business reports and presentations for divisional leadership related to annual giving progress. The Assistant Director will serve as a liaison with the advancement operations team to run lists needed for solicitation efforts and ensure data accuracy.
Essential Functions:
1.) Managing Annual Giving Reports
- Manage all reporting needs for the annual giving team.
- Conducting an audit to determine the needs of the direct marketing and leadership annual giving teams, enhance existing reports and create new reports that will inform strategy used to inform strategy, as well as report progress to divisional leadership.
2.) Examining Data to Answer Questions
- Assist the direct marketing team with identifying, analyzing and interpreting trends or patterns related to A/B testing and solicitation results across all channels.
- Respond to questions posed by members of the annual giving team and university advancement leadership regarding annual giving trends at AU through data analysis.
3.) Manage Solicitation Lists
- Create and refresh solicitation lists as needed across all channels.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure lists include all information needed for each appeal, as well as the accuracy of the data.
4.) Maintaining Data Cleanliness
- Identify and correct data discrepancies within the database identified through Annual Giving lists and outreach.
- Ensure annual giving activities are accurately reflected in the CRM by creating and monitoring appeal codes and updating prospect records to include recent direct marketing outreach.
5.) Other Duties as Assigned

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Full-Time.
- 35 hours per week.
- Hours are 9am - 5pm, Monday through Friday.
- Hybrid work environment.
Salary Range:
- $ $32.00 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- 2 - 4 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience with SQL preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency using MS Excel.
- Familiarity with advancement and/or sales database systems (Ellucian CRM Advance and/or Microsoft Dynamics a plus); demonstrated experience in achieving proficient use in at least one such business tool.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting requirements gathering and ability to translate the technical and functional through workflow maps, diagrams, and analytical or narrative reports.
- Attention to detail with methodical approach to work, ability to identify technical and functional issues, contribution to business process improvements, and the ability to clearly document progress and solutions.
- Strong customer service orientation and the ability to maintain collaborative and collegial working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders, recognizing that the functions of this role are integral to the achievement of annual giving's goals and objectives.
- Preference for demonstrated experience related to fundraising, alumni, or constituent relations with a strong working knowledge of the functions, priorities, industry vocabulary, general operations, and best practices entailed within.
- Maturity, sound judgment, and ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment.
