Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care across various settings, including long-term care, assisted living, hospitals, and outpatient clinics. This role offers an opportunity to work with diverse patient populations, including those with complex medical needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's, and behavioral health conditions. The CNA will play a vital role in supporting patient comfort, safety, and well-being while adhering to all healthcare regulations and standards.
Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately using EMR/EHR systems, ensuring proper documentation of patient data.
- Support medication administration under supervision, following HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques.
- Provide specialized care for patients with memory impairments, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or behavioral health needs.
- Assist with catheter care, wound care, and other medical procedures as directed by nursing staff.
- Maintain a safe environment by following infection control protocols and practicing basic life support when necessary.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, post-acute care, or hospice to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Support patients in rehabilitation or recovery phases within inpatient or outpatient settings.
- Engage in patient education and emotional support to promote healing and well-being.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including Level I Trauma Centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and vital signs monitoring.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks is preferred.
- Ability to work with patients across various age groups including pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Experience with specialized care such as Alzheimer's/dementia care, behavioral health management, or infectious disease care is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and patients with disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and ensuring patient confidentiality.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting and assisting patients with mobility aids like Hoyer lifts.
