This is a HYBRID schedule, requiring 2-3 days per week onsite in either our Rancho Cordova or Boston office.
About the DepartmentThe Global Fund Tax team at Franklin Templeton is responsible for delivering tax compliance and tax advisory services to investment funds, including North American retail mutual funds, real estate investment trusts, and private funds and partnerships. The team collaborates with Portfolio Management, Legal, and Marketing to provide strategic tax guidance. Joining this team means working in a collaborative environment where you'll contribute to impactful financial decisions and gain exposure to complex tax structures and innovative solutions.
Core Responsibilities
You will serve as a subject matter expert and tax advisor on complex fund tax issues, with a focus on those involving alternative investments and digital assets.
You will provide tax advisory support to operational tax compliance processes and governance frameworks.
You will research and advise on tax implications of fund structures and transactions.
You will support tax planning with portfolio managers.
You will lead special projects, including legislative analysis and implementation.
Strategic Responsibilities
You will advise on strategic tax matters and internal policy development.
You will assess and mitigate tax-related risks.
You will manage relationships with external service providers.
You will lead change initiatives and educate teams on tax best practices.
Experience, Education & Certifications
10+ years in tax, preferably focused on investment funds.
Master's degree in Tax, Law, Accounting, or Finance.
CPA, CA, or ACCA certification preferred.
Technical Skills
Expertise in complex retail and private investment structures.
Knowledge of complex securities and alternative investments.
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
Experience with project management and automation tools (Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau).
Soft Skills
Ability to communicate complex tax issues clearly.
Leads effectively and builds strong stakeholder relationships.
Demonstrates accountability by meeting commitments and learning from setbacks.
Prioritizes adding business value with a proactive, solution-focused mindset.

We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $180,000 – 212,000 depending on location and level of relevant experience.
