AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
You will partner with AWS stakeholders to develop regional and site-specific development strategies enabling the construction and operation of AWS datacenters and infrastructure within the Americas. You will develop and lead initiatives to maintain compliance with both internal and external sound and acoustic requirements during environmental due diligence, design, environmental permitting, construction, and data center operations. This role requires regular engagement with multiple AWS stakeholders including Real Estate, Legal, Risk, Design, Public Policy, Construction, and Operational teams, as well as external stakeholders including regulatory agencies, consultants, and contractors.
A successful candidate in this role will have a proven track record of delivering multiple, high-priority projects with tight timelines that require strong communication with partner teams, outside consultants and counsel, and regulatory agencies. The candidate must have a strong understanding of multi-media United States environmental permitting, remediation, and compliance requirements associated with large-scale infrastructure, ideally with expertise in sound and acoustic compliance.
Key job responsibilities
Assess environmental risks and requirements and develop strategies to support data center delivery and operational environmental compliance.
Develop and lead technical initiatives for continual improvement of sound and acoustic compliance for both internal and external requirements.
Develop long-term strategy and vision for the environmental sound and acoustic compliance program in the Americas.
Develop, manage, and track metrics and goals to evaluate program success.
Work with Acoustic Engineering teams and other partners to update sound regulation repository, and provide environmental technical support to additional Acoustics Teams-led initiatives as needed.
Communicate environmental requirements to internal and external project partners including Real Estate, Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power, and others.
Coordinate with partner teams including Real Estate, Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power, and others to support Acoustics Teams-led initiatives.
Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations in support of environmental permit acquisition and regional development strategies.
