Summary

The Production Manager oversees all technical and operational aspects of live performances and events at Stable Hall. This role ensures seamless show execution, manages back-of-house (BOH) operations, and optimizes production resources while maintaining a high-energy, artist-focused environment.

Essential Functions

Show Production & Execution

  • Manage all technical elements of live performances including lighting, sound, and stage setup.
  • Operate sound boards and technical equipment as needed during events.
  • Coordinate with artists, promoters, and touring crews to advance shows and meet production requirements.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in real-time to ensure smooth event execution.

Back-of-House Team Management

  • Recruit, train, and lead BOH stage crew, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
  • Schedule and supervise stagehands, riggers, and technical staff for load-ins, load-outs, and performances.
  • Maintain clear communication between BOH, FOH, and external crews.

Venue Inventory Management

  • Maintain and manage venue equipment including audio, lighting, rigging, and stage gear.
  • Track inventory usage, coordinate repairs/replacements, and order supplies.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment inventory to support budgeting and planning.

Show Advances & Budget Optimization

  • Collaborate with promoters and artist teams to align on technical and logistical requirements.
  • Develop and manage production budgets for each event, optimizing spend while maintaining quality.
  • Negotiate with vendors and suppliers for cost-effective solutions.

Venue Operations & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations including fire codes, rigging standards, and workplace protocols.
  • Conduct pre-event checks to confirm safety and performance standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe backstage environment.

Additional Duties

  • Assist with event scheduling and coordination to align production needs with venue availability.
  • Provide input on venue improvements to enhance production capabilities.
  • Support the Private Events Director with operational tasks as needed.

Required Education & Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in live event production, preferably in a music venue or theater.
  • Expertise in operating sound boards (e.g., Yamaha, Midas) and familiarity with lighting and rigging systems.
  • Experience managing BOH teams and motivating staff.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in show advancing and interpreting technical riders.
  • Budget management experience with a focus on cost optimization.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in live event production.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in production software (e.g., QLab, Vectorworks) is a plus.
  • Physical ability to lift equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in a fast-paced environment.
