About the Role:
Amazon's Project Kuiper is an ambitious initiative to provide fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities globally via a constellation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer (SDE) to join the team building the critical e-commerce and customer lifecycle platform that will power this service.
This role is pivotal in developing the software that manages the entire customer journey, from identity and provisioning to billing and payments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development for e-commerce or finance systems, with a significant preference for experience in integrating large-scale financial applications like Oracle. You will design and build scalable, cloud-native components on AWS that are essential for operating a global communications service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain components and services for Project Kuiper's Customer e-Commerce Services.
- Develop and integrate e-commerce functions such as subscriber management, billing, payments, and offer management on AWS infrastructure.
- Collaborate with satellite, network, and security engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Design robust, scalable systems and relevant data models.
- Develop code, build CI/CD pipelines, create test automation, and implement dashboards for system health monitoring.
- Implement best practices for software development, including code reviews, source control, and build processes.
- Partner with engineers to build solutions for provisioning and operating a global Internet service.
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 3+ years of experience in the design and architecture (design patterns, reliability, scaling) of new and existing systems.
- Proficiency in the Java programming language and MVC frameworks.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud-native development and tooling.
- Hands-on experience in API design, creation, and management (RESTful web services, JSON, GraphQL).
- Experience with AWS API Gateway.
- Experience managing Java-based SDKs.
- Experience integrating large-scale Financial and Accounting solutions (e.g., Oracle Financials).
- 3+ years of experience across the full software development life cycle (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations).
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
Our team owns the architecture, solutions, and roadmap for managing the customer lifecycle for Project Kuiper's communication services. This includes identity and account management, subscriber management, user provisioning, billing and payments, customer support tools, and analytics. We are building the foundation that will connect millions of customers worldwide.
