Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Collections Specialist - I to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing collections processes, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining positive relationships with clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical collections, accounts receivable, and customer service principles. You will play a crucial role in the revenue cycle management of our organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable to ensure timely payment.
  • Perform medical collections by contacting patients and insurance companies regarding unpaid balances.
  • Utilize financial software to track and analyze accounts, ensuring accurate account reconciliation.
  • Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette while communicating with clients to resolve payment issues.
  • Negotiate payment plans with clients while adhering to company policies and financial concepts.
  • Maintain detailed records of communications and transactions related to collections.
  • Collaborate with the billing department to address discrepancies in CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns promptly.
  • Conduct account analysis to identify trends in payment delays or issues.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in medical billing or collections is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Familiarity with financial software and accounting software is essential.
  • Knowledge of financial concepts, debits & credits, and revenue cycle management is required.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally.
  • Proficient in math for accurate account analysis and reconciliation tasks.
  • Strong communication skills with an emphasis on customer service excellence.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
