Job Summary

The Area Coordinator 2 is a front-line working leadership position within our distribution center, responsible for overseeing and performing tasks in a designated area or production line. This role requires hands-on operational expertise, leadership during peak seasons, and proficiency in operating all forklifts used in the facility. The Area Coordinator 2 ensures efficient, safe, and high-quality operations while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Duties: Perform hands-on tasks in the assigned area or production line during non-peak periods, including order picking, packing, inventory management, and product handling.
  • Leadership: Supervise and guide seasonal or temporary labor during peak periods, providing hands-on leadership to ensure productivity, quality, and adherence to safety standards. Supervise and guide Full Time employees at 1-800 Flowers.
  • Forklift Operations: Safely operate all types of forklifts used in the distribution center, including; Sit-Down, Reach Trucks, Walkie Riders, Order Pickers, etc, to support material handling and workflow efficiency.
  • Area Oversight: Monitor and maintain performance metrics for the assigned area, ensuring operational goals for accuracy, speed, and quality are met.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure all team members follow standard operating procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other Area Coordinators, supervisors, and management to coordinate workflows and address operational challenges.
  • Training and Development: Train seasonal or temporary staff on tasks, equipment use, and safety procedures to ensure operational consistency.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve operational issues in the assigned area, escalating complex problems to management as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a distribution center, warehouse, or similar environment, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
  • Forklift Certification: Valid certification to operate all forklifts used in the facility (Reach Truck) and obtain certification at 1-800 Flowers .
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and communication skills to manage and motivate a team.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certifications in warehouse operations or leadership preferred.
  • Availability: Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak seasons.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and bending in a fast-paced environment.
  • Safe operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment.
