As our new Principal Air Quality Engineer or Scientist, you'll take a leading role in driving business development, identifying and securing new opportunities, and growing a high-performing team. You'll be instrumental in shaping the future of our air quality practice and company while delivering exceptional value to clients.

We are SLR Consulting (US), a 500+ coast-to-coast team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development efforts to expand our professional services across key markets and geographies

  • Identify and pursue new client relationships, cross-selling project opportunities, and strategic partnerships

  • Develop and mentor a growing team of environmental professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture

  • Oversee and contribute to the preparation of air quality permit applications (e.g., PSD, Title V)

  • Provide regulatory guidance and compliance support to clients across diverse industries

  • Stay ahead of evolving environmental regulations and translate insights into client solutions

  • Ensure project delivery within scope, budget, and schedule expectations

  • Travel to client sites as needed for inspections, meetings, and relationship development

  • The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $140,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:

  • Proven track record in business development and client relationship management

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in environmental consulting or industry

  • Strong knowledge of air quality regulations (Title V, PSD, NSPS, NESHAP, GHG, RMP)

  • Experience with compliance reporting and permitting processes

  • Effective communicator with strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; valid driver's license; willingness to travel

  • Preferred

  • Experience in sectors such as oil & gas, power generation, built environment, mining, or ports

  • Prior consulting experience and technical writing skills

  • Goal oriented and organized with demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and track business metrics

  • Willing to work across disciplines, regions and sectors to provide best service possible to our clients
