Position Overview:
The Director, Engineering leads and drives success with our Engineering team and is responsible for driving software and or data management solutions that are aligned with a focus on making sure our solutions work optimally within the various IT environments present in healthcare institutions.
Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
- Oversees people leadership for their Engineering teams, with a focus on executing on strategy and allocating resources to maximize performance.
- Responsible for managing performance, developing talent, and creating succession plans within their team(s) for long-term team success
- Manages performance, has authority to hire and terminate employees, and makes compensation recommendations for managers, supervisors, and/or individual contributors
- Lead data preparation and transformation teams using in-depth knowledge of databases & healthcare domains
- Ability to lead complex software development projects
- Oversees and/or participates in critical cross-functional initiatives related to data management and data analysis
- Develops, designs, and maintains standards, procedures, and processes for improving the accuracy and depth of company data
- Actively contributes to team leadership level efforts to improve scale and operational excellence across their area of Engineering
• Lead engineering teams using in-depth knowledge of APIs, databases, and other engineering systems in the healthcare domain - Possess high levels of skill in relevant engineering disciplines and technologies to make design and implementation decisions for complex software projects
- Ability to lead large and complex software development projects simultaneously
- Oversees and/or participates in critical cross-functional initiatives related to application engineering, data analysis, and integration
- Develops, designs, specifies, and maintains standards, procedures, frameworks, and processes for improving the accuracy and depth of company data
- Actively contributes to team leadership level efforts to improve scale and operational excellence across their area of Engineering
- Designs, implements, and maintains quality control standards for collection and maintenance of data and development and implementation of accuracy and performance metrics
- Collaborates with stakeholders and provides subject matter expertise on implementation, use, and compliance of data
- Evangelize best practices and engineering principles among their Engineering teams
- Prepares for and participates in audits and other process compliance activities, and performs gap analysis to identify where data engineering operations are not being optimized
- Develops and leads short and long-term plans for implementing and managing operational improvements for their teams in alignment with department goals and strategy
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 12 + years if software Development
- Ability to lead complex software development projects
- Provide direction for one or more Engineering teams simultaneously
- Provide key inputs and participation in department planning to meet company goals
- Competence with modern front-end development technologies (Angular, React, Vue, Gatsby, etc.).
- Competence with modern API development technologies (Node, Spring, Java, GraphQL, etc.)
- Proficiency with distributed processing (Lambda, Elastic Search, etc.)
- AWS experience is preferred.
- Experience in engineering solutions for large scale, highly available and mission-critical application systems.
- Experience in healthcare enterprise engineering is preferred.
- Experience designing and supporting software applications and understanding of the entire application development life cycle.
- Ability to establish engineering practices and train teams in following them.
- Experience scrubbing/masking sensitive data in non-Production database environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of application security best practices and hardening enterprise applications to secure against malicious users.
- Exposure and working knowledge of reporting, business intelligence and data wrangling tools
- Proficiency with developing web browser applications and mobile applications.
- Ability to assess and address data quality concerns
- Ability to translate data findings into actionable recommendations and process improvements
- Ability to comply with and enforce company data management policies and standards
- Ability to review workload, set priorities, and manage time to complete tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively, able to work independently.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and willingness to learn and expand knowledge.
- Ability to communicate technical information and standards to non-technical audiences
- Ability to train and coach employees on processes, policies, standards, and data quality metrics
Salary range:
$163, $173,000.00
Bonus Eligible:
This position is also eligible for a discretionary company bonus, based upon business results.
