Position Overview

NARN seeks a detail-oriented and motivated Administrative and Communications Coordinator to support our campaigns, events, and outreach. This part-time role helps keep NARN's advocacy efforts running smoothly through coordination, communication, and organization. The ideal candidate is passionate about animal rights, proactive, and comfortable balancing a variety of tasks in a dynamic, small-organization environment.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative and Organizational Support

  • Assist with the management of incoming emails and respond or route inquiries appropriately
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets, job aids, and other organizational tools
  • Manage membership drives, RSVPs, and volunteer sign-ups
  • Assist with coordinating logistics for in-person and virtual events, including demos and tabling
  • Track event participation

Communications and Outreach

  • Draft NARN's newsletter shared every other week and annual end-of-year letter
  • Create and disseminate leaflets, educational materials, and action alerts
  • Assist with distribution of press releases
  • Support management of petitions and surveys
  • Maintain communication with NARN's volunteer pool and coordinate volunteer engagement
  • Manage blog authors and contribute to website maintenance and updates
  • Assist with social media

Advocacy and Campaign Support

  • Track legislative developments using NARN's legislative tracker
  • Support campaign outreach and coordination for demos and events
  • Help draft and manage public petitions and advocacy actions

Fundraising and Grants

  • Conduct grant research and assist with writing grant proposals
  • Support fundraising efforts and donor communications
Qualifications (We recognize that each applicant for this role will bring unique skills, knowledge, experiences, and background to this position.   • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), understanding of team-based tools such as Slack and
  • Basic website editing experience (WordPress or similar platform preferred)
  • Experience in community organizing, communications, or nonprofit work is a plus
  • Commitment to NARN's mission and animal rights principles

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity or expertise with Notion
  • Familiarity with Canva
  • Familiarity with Action Network, NationBuilder, or EveryAction
  • A general enthusiasm or willingness to learn any of the above
Schedule and Work Environment

This position is part-time (approximately 10 hours per week) with flexible scheduling. Some evening or weekend availability may be needed for meetings. Work is remote, but will require communication with people in the Pacific US Time Zone.
