A Day In The Life
The Specialist, Business Intelligence supports data-driven decision-making by developing reports, dashboards, and analytical insights that help business leaders at Gulf States Toyota (GST) make informed strategic and operational decisions. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Business Intelligence, this role translates data into clear, actionable insights—combining technical skills, analytical thinking, and curiosity to support GST's mission of continuous improvement and business excellence. This individual will work closely with cross-functional partners to gather requirements, prepare data, and build visualizations that highlight key trends and performance metrics. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with large datasets, and eager to grow their analytics expertise in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
As a Specialist, Bus Intel you will:
- Reporting & Analytics Development:
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports in Power BI, Tableau, or Excel that track key business metrics and trends.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, clean, and transform data for analysis
- Support business teams with ad hoc analysis, turning data into clear narratives and
- recommendations.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness in all recurring and ad hoc reports.
- Data Management & Quality:
- Assist in integrating and validating data from multiple sources (e.g., operational, financial, and marketing systems).
- Monitor data quality and collaborate with IT or data engineering teams to address discrepancies.
- Contribute to the documentation and standardization of BI processes and data definitions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into effective BI solutions.
- Participate in project discussions to help define success metrics and reporting requirements.
- Present insights to both technical and non-technical audiences in a clear, engaging way.
- Continuous Improvement & Learning:
- Stay current on BI tools, data visualization techniques, and analytics best practices.
- Seek opportunities to automate manual reporting processes and improve efficiency.
- Contribute to building a data-driven culture by sharing knowledge and encouraging data literacy across teams.
What We Need From You
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field. Req
- 1-3 years experience in business intelligence, reporting or data analytics Required
- Experience building dashboards and working with relational databases Required
- Exposure to enterprise-level data environments or large datasets Preferred
- Technical Proficiency:
- Proficient in Excel and one or more BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- Working knowledge of SQL and data modeling principles
- Familiarity with data integration and visualization best practices
- Experience with SAP, Denodo, or similar enterprise data platforms is a plus

Physical and Environmental RequirementsThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The associate is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The associate must frequently move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds.

20% Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 20% of the time and on a domestic basis).
