Global Investment Strategy (GIS) is a unit of the Chief Investment Office (CIO) organization that is responsible for the management of the $400 billion General Account, which includes the domestic and international insurance investment portfolios of Prudential Financial Inc and affiliates. The GIS team is responsible for relative value assessment, new investment opportunities, cross portfolio strategy, active portfolio risk management, ALM strategy and analytics as well as environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies for the insurance portfolios.
We are seeking an Investment Associate to join our Investment Strategy team. In this role you will provide critical, hands-on support in the research, development, and implementation of the General Account's investment strategies. The individual will work closely with General Account portfolio managers, internal asset managers, and risk management to implement new investment strategies within enterprise risk appetite and external regulatory constraints across multiple jurisdictions.
The current EWA for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determine by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.
What you can expect:
- Participate in the development and implementation of General Account investment strategies including idea generation across a broad range of public and private asset classes.
- Contribute to engagements with asset managers on new opportunities and provide insurance investment knowledge to optimize investments for insurance balance sheets.
- Support cross portfolio initiatives such as analyzing new asset classes, understanding capital frameworks and their impact on investment initiatives, and optimizing new strategies under enterprise risk limits.
- Support active portfolio construction process including risk positioning, identification and escalation of risk issues, and benchmarking of asset managers.
- Coordinate and partner with other groups within CIO (e.g., Global Portfolio Management, Manager of Managers) and corporate functions (e.g., Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Actuarial, Treasurer's Department, External Affairs, Tax and Finance) in understanding and addressing portfolio issues.
- Engage in broad portfolio surveillance across multiple fixed income asset classes.
- Contribute to strategic portfolio outlook and positioning through regular relative value and risk assessment discussion.
- Support the day to day execution of portfolio management activities, including new purchases, forecasting funding needs, partnering to execute hedging strategies, and tracking portfolio performance with investment guidelines.
What you'll need:
- The ideal candidate is motivated, enjoys being challenged, and works well individually and in a team-based environment
- Bachelor's Degree
- 4-7 years of investment and/or risk management experience is required
- Capital markets knowledge with experience in a variety of asset classes including corporate bonds, securitized products, and mortgage loans
- Strong communicator, coordinator and thought partner; as well as ability to problem solve and explain solutions (both oral and written)
- Excellent project management skills
It'd be a plus if you:
- Are pursuing a CFA designation and/or MBA
- Had previous experience in investments, credit analysis or fixed income
- Knowledge of insurance capital frameworks
Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations.
The salary range for this role is from $125,000 to $140,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits.
Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
