Position Title: Public Engagement Coordinator

Classification: Full time, exempt

Reports To: Sr. Director of Public Engagement

Pay: 55,000 annually

Position Summary: The Public Engagement Coordinator supports the planning and implementation of public programs and festivals with a focus on engaging adult audiences and collaborating with partners across Chicago's diverse neighborhoods. Working with the Sr. Director of Public Engagement and team members, this person manages internal and external stakeholders to administer and staff a full schedule of on- and off-site programs tailored to audiences at varying levels of expertise and interest in the fields of architecture, design, and the built environment. This person contributes to the production of CAC's flagship?Open?House Chicago festival, the Architecture and Design Film Festival,?exhibit-related programs, and other large-scale engagements that align with the organizational goals.?

Key Responsibilities/ Essential Duties

  • Oversees logistics and web-based content for Public Engagement department, including back-end ticketing builds, creation and delivery of content to marketing team, sales tracking, budget monitoring, invite lists and community outreach coordination, data reporting, and expense processing.
  • Supports the Managers of Public Engagement to create and distribute runs-of-show to stakeholders, facilitate set-up, and manage guest registration for both in-person and/or virtual productions. Works closely with AV/facilities/box office & store staff to implement a smooth and welcoming guest experience from beginning to end of the program.
  • Liaises with out-of-town guest speakers and presenters, assisting with travel logistics, invoice processing, and reimbursements.
  • In partnership with leadership, develops and implements program evaluation tools to analyze and interpret data to improve or strengthen adult-focused community engagement programs and initiatives.?
  • Keep abreast of programs and events at similar cultural institutions, as well as industry best practices in lifelong learning and public engagement through adult public programming.?

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in informal public education, supporting learning and community engagement initiatives and strategies in a museum, school, or cultural setting is required.?
  • Experience with arts and culture enterprise software such as Ventrata, Tessitura, or similar software that integrates ticketing, fundraising, and customer relationship management functions.
  • An academic or professional background in architectural history, urban planning, design, historic preservation/cultural heritage conservation, museums, or a related field recommended.
  • Availability to support programs on evenings and weekend days.

Knowledge or Expertise

  • Experience designing educational programming serving a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and learning styles, including a range of evaluation tools and strategies to inform program revision, improvement, and/or expansion is key.?
  • Expertise or a strong curiosity in architecture, urban history, public planning, civic engagement, and the cultural geography of Chicago are highly encouraged.?
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and experience in programming, budget, and project management.?
  • A demonstrated understanding and practice of inclusion and accessibility values within cultural institutions is essential.?
