Finance and Operations Associate

THE CITY ) is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Finance and Operations Associate to support our Director of Finance and Administration. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys solving problems, and wants to grow their finance and operations skills within a mission-driven organization.

We're looking for a results-driven, early-career finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about making a measurable impact. In this role, you'll support the organization's financial needs, with an emphasis on bookkeeping, and help us manage our operational systems.

Working across all five boroughs, our stellar journalists bring diverse skills and backgrounds to the task of covering New York's neighborhoods, holding the powerful to account and making sense of the greatest city in the world.

THE CITY's investigative reporting has resulted in criminal indictments, political resignations and ethics inquiries. It has inspired new laws, influenced budget choices and reversed injustices. THE CITY's explanatory journalism has helped hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers to vote, keep their apartments warm, stay safe in dangerous weather, and access public assistance.

Finance & Bookkeeping

• Enter and code invoices accurately
• Process 401(k) transactions
• Run regular reports for financial control and compliance purposes
• Maintain vendor relationships and manage contract renewals

Operations

• Create and maintain recurring systems and processes that keep the organization running smoothly
• Coordinate IT maintenance with our outsourced provider
• Troubleshoot system issues
• Research and recommend improvements to enhance organizational efficiency
• Serve as a resource for internal and external stakeholders

• Detail-oriented and reliable, with strong organizational skills
• Curious and proactive, able to identify what needs to be done and take initiative
• Trustworthy and discreet, capable of handling confidential information responsibly
• Excited to learn and grow your finance knowledge over time
• A self-starter who can take projects from idea to completion with guidance and support

Compensation: Salary range: $68,000-$72,000 + comprehensive benefits
