B2U Storage Solutions, Inc. (B2U) is the leading provider of large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) utilizing 2nd life OEM EV battery packs. B2U's patented energy storage systems are interconnected to the grid, selling energy and grid services into wholesale markets. B2U's energy storage systems have been operational since 2020. B2U's second grid connected energy storage system has been operational since November 2023. A third facility is now being converted from PV only to a hybrid storage facility. Additional energy storage systems for B2U's own portfolio and for customers are in development.

The Project Developer is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing land for battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. This role involves conducting title research, negotiating agreements with landowners, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Acting as a key liaison between the company and property owners, the Project Developer plays a critical role in securing strategic sites for energy storage deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Title Research:
  • Analyze property records and legal documents to determine land ownership and potential encumbrances.
  • Conduct due diligence to assess site feasibility for energy storage development.
  • Landowner Outreach & Negotiation:
  • Engage with landowners to discuss lease or purchase agreements, explaining project benefits and terms.
  • Negotiate lease terms, purchase options, and easements to secure optimal site conditions.
  • Contract Drafting & Execution:
  • Prepare and finalize agreements, including leases, easements, and right-of-way documents, ensuring legal compliance.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to resolve any contractual issues.
  • Project Management
  • Work with senior management to identify and develop business opportunities for acquisition.
  • Bring potential project opportunities through existing relationships with other developers.
  • Participate in or lead due diligence processes for projects.
  • Develop a detailed schedule for each task and milestone.
  • Monitor and manage milestones, preparing regular progress reports.

Regulatory & Compliance Management:

  • Stay informed on local, state, and federal regulations affecting land acquisition for energy storage projects.
  • Ensure all land acquisition activities align with zoning, permitting, and environmental regulations.
  • Site Analysis & Due Diligence:
  • Evaluate land suitability based on proximity to substations, interconnection potential, and grid capacity.
  • Work with internal teams to assess technical feasibility and economic viability of potential sites.
  • Project Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Track land acquisition progress and coordinate with internal teams to align with project timelines.
  • Engage with community stakeholders, government agencies, and local authorities to facilitate project approvals.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and research skills to assess land ownership, zoning laws, and permitting requirements.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to build relationships with landowners and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of real estate law, land use policies, and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping tools and land management software.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple land acquisition projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in renewable energy, utility-scale projects, or battery storage development is a plus.
