Schedule

  • 40 hours/week, generally 5 days per week.
  • Opening shift begins at 8 am or 9am on Sundays.
  • Closing shift begins 1:30 pm or 11:30am on Sundays
  • Current retail operating hours are Mon-Sat 9 am to 9 pm, and Sunday 10 am to 7 pm (subject to change)
  • The estimated timeline to start work upon the accepted offer (background checks, state agent registration) is 14 business days; however, this process can take longer.

KPIs
 Retail sales and operations metrics, to be further defined, focused on: compliance of inventory and cash, average transaction value, average items per transaction

Essential duties and responsibilities

Summary.
The Retail Sales Lead (RSL) is an operations leader within the Retail Department, and reports to the Assistant General Manager to ensure the productivity and profitability of BeWell's Retail sales activities. The RSL directly supervises Sales Associates and activities at the dispensary. The RSL is responsible for enforcing policies and procedures, especially at critical control points related to cash handling and inventory management, on the sales floor, and is expected to model compliance and professionalism in all instances.

RSL works with the Retail Manager (RM) and Assistant Manager (AM) to enforce company policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, local, and company requirements. RSL works with AM and RM to ensure Retail systems are maintained and operated to ensure continuity and productivity of the department, in alignment with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). RSL works with AM and the Sales department to ensure advertising and promotion is effectively communicated to patients and consumers.

RSL operates software and other systems related to sales, including compliant cash handling and deposit preparation. RSL supports GM and Inventory Lead to audit and track inventory and materials, in compliance with state and other requirements. RSL ensures Retail employees receive training related to sales activities, in order to safely and effectively perform job tasks.

The RSL is a licensed Agent of BeWell's state-issued, medical and adult-use cannabis licenses, in compliance with Cannabis Control Commission and all related federal, state and local regulations. RSL is a leadership role expected to model professional, productive behaviors within the company and on its behalf to all guests of the Retail dispensary. RSL enforces the company's reporting structures to ensure standardized reporting and recordkeeping and maintain transparent communication within the Retail department.

  • In coordination with AGM, perform all required inventory and cash management activities, including the transaction of medical and adult-use cannabis sales
  • In compliance with laws and policies, including reporting requirements, perform management functions of point-of-sale: patient/consumer discounts, employee discounts, returns, discrepancy resolution, etc.
  • Maintain site and facility cleanliness (light janitorial), safety, and security during operating hours, including sales floor presentation and merchandising, and sales-related hardware and software
  • Ensure marijuana establishment compliance during operating hours, including keyholding responsibilities (open/close), and hosting announced and unannounced inspections
  • Provide and train Sales Associates to provide exemplary customer service, including advanced knowledge of product quality, safety, etc.
  • Directly supervise reports, and support the GM and AGM to manage staff schedules

Physical requirements

  • Ability to stand or walk for an eight-hour shift
  • Occasional bending, reaching, grasping and squatting to access materials
  • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds with or without assistance

Skills and qualifications

  • Experience directing and managing 
    cannabis retail
    activities, especially customer service and staff management within Massachusetts markets
  • Sales and operations
     leadership abilities, including knowledge of sales best practices and the ability to coach direct and indirect reports to increase revenue and customer satisfaction
  • Time management
     and ability to prioritize tasks to ensure compliance and continuity of sales systems and revenue operations
  • Hardware, software, and application skills,
    including useof recordkeeping and scheduling/timekeeping systems, MS365 Suite, point-of-sale, and other cannabis-retail-related systems, e.g., METRC, Dutchie
  • Ability to 
    triage issues
     for interdepartmental resolution, especially those related to retail systems and inventory control
  • Problem-solving, communication, and de-escalation skills,
    especially related to guest and staff management
  • Experience working and managing people in highly regulated environments, e.g., 
    compliance with local, state, and federal requirements,
    including but not limited to the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission, OSHA, Town of Merrimac, ServSafe
  • Organized and detail-oriented
    , with the ability to clearly define and communicate issues
  • Minimum age 
    21 years
  • Ability to pass all required 
    background checks and complete all required training
    , including but not limited to: Responsible Vendor Training (RVT), General and Retail Department company policies and procedures
