Overview of The Maintenance Department Supervisor plays a key leadership role with a local Landscaping Company, overseeing the daily performance, training, and motivation of the maintenance crews. This position ensures that every property under the care of the Landscaping Company is maintained to the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and horticultural excellence. The ideal candidate is organized, plant-savvy, tech-capable, and thrives on creating systems that improve efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Department Supervisor, this position includes the ability to perform, teach, and oversee the following:

• Mow, trim, edge, weed, and prune plants, shrubs, trees, and groundcover.
• Conduct basic weed control and keep properties free of debris, litter, and garbage.
• Communicate professionally with customers, addressing their needs and referring additional service requests to management.
• Program and troubleshoot irrigation controllers (Hunter, Rainbird, and other leading brands).
• Test irrigation, adjust nozzles, clean emitters, and manage irrigation-related repairs.
• Safely load, haul, and offload heavy materials and equipment.
• Maintain all tools and equipment in clean, safe, and working condition (including greasing and preventative maintenance).
• Identify common trees, shrubs, and groundcover by name and understand seasonal plant care requirements.
• Identify different materials (rock, bark, gravel, DG, etc.) used in landscaping.
• Respond effectively to field situations such as property damage or accidents and report incidents immediately.
• Follow all OSHA and company safety standards and ensure team compliance.
• Lead by example — if unsafe behavior is observed, stop work and report it to management.

Leadership & Management Expectations

• Conduct morning crew huddles to review routes, priorities, and safety reminders.
• Perform weekly site visits for quality control and Jobber documentation.
• Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to crew members.
• Foster a positive, team-oriented, and accountable work culture.
• Manage irrigation kits — check them in/out to crews and ensure they remain complete and functional.
• Host bi-weekly morning meetings to reinforce company standards and communicate updates.
• Maintain strong client relationships by performing regular site checks and proactive communication.
• Collaborate with management to create and implement incentive programs for performance and retention.
• Use Jobber for all digital reporting, including site check documentation, weed spray logs, photos, and notes.
• Proactively identify ways to improve current systems and workflow efficiency.
• Participate in fieldwork as needed to ensure quality standards and coverage.
• Earn bonuses for securing new clients or expanding maintenance accounts.

Qualifications And Expectations

• 3+ years of professional landscape maintenance experience (supervisory preferred).
• Strong plant and irrigation knowledge (Hunter, Rainbird, etc.).
• Proficiency with technology and field apps (Jobber experience a plus).
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to motivate, train, and hold crews accountable.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
• Hold a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Arrive prepared and punctual — appropriate uniform/footwear (boots), lunch/snacks, and hydration.
• Maintain professional hygiene and represent Botanica Landscapes with pride.
• Plan your day efficiently, including refueling, breaks, and debris disposal.
• Keep trucks, shops, and job sites clean and organized at all times.
• Lead and teach your team with clear, respectful communication.
• Display initiative, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn and adapt.
