Job Summary
The Merchandising Specialist serves as the frontline representative of MCP Distro at retail locations, playing a pivotal role in product visibility, inventory flow, and retail performance. As the face of our brand, this individual is responsible for driving sales, strengthening retailer relationships, and ensuring that our products are represented with consistency and excellence across all partner stores.
This role blends in-person sales with visual merchandising, strategic planning, and territory management. The ideal candidate will bring energy, professionalism, and a deep understanding of brand presentation to elevate the customer experience and maximize in-store opportunities. They will work closely with sales leadership and brand partners to execute promotional strategies, track inventory, monitor competitor presence, and provide real-time feedback from the field.
Responsibilities
- Account Visits:
Travel to assigned retail and wholesale partners on a consistent route schedule—weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on territory and account needs.
- Reorders & Product Placement:
Take and process reorders in person while recommending new products tailored to each store's demographics and sales history.
Merchandising Execution:
- Ensure MCP Distro products are fully stocked, front-facing, and properly tagged or priced.
- Set up branded displays, signage, and promotional materials.
- Implement planograms and uphold visual merchandising standards.
Retailer Training:
Educate retail staff on product features, benefits, and effective cross-selling opportunities.
Sales Insights:
Report back to HQ with detailed updates on store performance, competitor activity, and market feedback.
Promotional Support:
Support product launches, in-store sampling events, and activations as needed to drive sales and brand engagement.
Territory Management:
Maintain a consistent schedule of visits; document store interactions, reorder data, and merchandising updates using CRM tools or a shared dashboard.
Job Requirements
- 2+ years of merchandising, field sales, or route rep experience (preferably in CPG, beverage, tobacco, or lifestyle goods).
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable driving a regular route and interacting with independent retailers.
- Understanding of point-of-sale environments and basic merchandising principles.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
- Tech-savvy — able to use tablets, CRM systems, or digital ordering tools.
- Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented.
Job Duties
Retail Account Visits:
- Travel to assigned retail and wholesale partners on a regular route schedule (weekly, biweekly, or monthly).
- Represent MCP Distro as the face of the brand, maintaining positive, professional relationships with store owners and staff.
- Act as a frontline brand ambassador, offering product education and fostering strong partner engagement.
Re-Orders & Inventory Placement:
- Take and process product re-orders directly on-site during store visits.
- Recommend product additions based on store demographics, customer demand, and sell-through performance.
- Track stock velocity and identify reorder triggers or inventory gaps proactively.
Merchandising & Display Execution:
- Ensure all MCP Distro products are properly stocked, front-facing, tagged, and priced.
- Set up branded displays, signage, and shelf talkers to enhance in-store visibility.
- Implement planograms and maintain visual merchandising standards across store locations.
Retailer Staff Training:
- Educate store staff on new product features, benefits, and cross-selling opportunities.
- Provide product knowledge training sessions during visits to increase brand understanding and sales confidence.
Sales & Market Insights:
- Report back to headquarters with store-level insights, competitor activity, and regional market trends.
- Capture in-store photos and document display setups or challenges in CRM or shared dashboards.
- Share promotional opportunities and feedback directly with the sales and marketing teams.
Promotional & Event Support:
- Assist with in-store events, product launch support, demos, or sampling activations when scheduled.
- Set up and tear down brand displays, and event kits as needed, ensuring alignment with brand standards.
Territory & Relationship Management:
- Maintain a consistent visitation schedule and build trust with key accounts through reliable follow-through.
- Track interactions, product feedback, and store-level needs in CRM or company dashboards.
- Identify opportunities for buy-down/buy-out programs on competing brands were strategic.
Operational & Reporting Duties:
- Maintain clean records of reorders, visits, and merchandising touchpoints.
- Coordinate internally with warehouse or logistics teams for timely order fulfillment.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $55, $60,000.00 per year
