The Westin Washington DC, City Center is a premier hotel located on DC Downtown, offering 410 guest rooms and over 20,000 square feet of event space.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a results-driven Director of Catering, who provides remarkable hospitality and exceptional service to every guest. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the catering department, driving event sales, ensuring exceptional service delivery, and maximizing revenue for the property. The Director of Catering will also work closely with our sales and revenue teams to develop strategies that align with the property's goals and vision.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in catering and events, excellent communication skills and proven experience in successfully navigating customer relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic plans for catering sales, focusing on revenue maximization and client satisfaction
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Solicit, negotiate, and confirm new and repeat business to maximize revenue
  • Prepare and execute catering and event contracts, event orders, and group resumes
  • Coordinate group event details with clients and internal teams
  • Work closely with the culinary and operations teams to ensure high-quality food and beverage offerings and flawless event execution.
  • Identify potential customers and markets to meet assigned revenue targets
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify and pursue new catering opportunities, both within the hotel and in the local market.
  • Assist in the development of pricing strategies and marketing materials for catering services.
  • Perform additional tasks to support the primary objectives of the role

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a related catering position
  • Proven experience in sales and revenue management within a hospitality setting
  • Strong understanding of catering operations, food and beverage service, and event planning
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously, demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience managing a team, with the ability to motivate and guide staff toward success
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with Marriott CI/TY is preferred
