We partner with Product, Experience Design, Analytics and business leaders across Wayfair; our Storefront Engineering teams ensure that we're building technology that solves important customer problems in elegant, scalable, measurable ways.  

Our Site Services teams own systems that deliver various capabilities to the eCommerce platform. From site merchandising and customization, to navigation, to personalization, the Site Services teams own and develop capabilities critical to the success of the customer journey and the company. Within the domain, the teams will both be building new capabilities as well as rearchitecting and migrating existing functionality and data as part of the overall technology transformation effort.

What You Will Do:

  • Flex your strength and knowledge on Java, DevOps, and microservice development.
  • Contribute to developing services that are built to industry best practices, including observability, architectural patterns, and inter-team dependency mechanisms (like SLOs)
  • Write code to implement high-quality, scalable, future-proof services that will have effective system boundaries
  • Participate in team planning and delivery meetings in a way that actively supports the goals and success of the team
  • Identify risks and gaps in your assigned work and surface them to team leads
  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and peers to define project requirements and execution plans

What you bring to the table

  • 3+ years of experience in engineering, with a preference for candidates with a mix of start-up and large-company experience. eComm domain expertise is a bonus
  • Hands-on experience delivering software within high-growth environments at scale 
  • Experienced in designing and building large-scale, cloud-based systems across various projects
  • Experience operating distributed services at scale, including familiarity with observability tools, logging techniques, troubleshooting, and incident response.
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience driving solutions forward and ability to influence results
  • Expertise with a modern programming language (such as Python, Java, C#, Scala, GO, or others). Java experience preferred.
  • Experience with one or more common open source platforms, tools and framework, eg: Kafka, Kubernetes, Containerization, Java microservices, GraphQL APIs, Aerospike etc
