We have an exciting opportunity for a MS SQL Server Database Administrator to join the IT Operations Center team within the Ferguson IT organization. In this role, you will be responsible for administering and maintaining database systems, including installation, configuration, monitoring, data management, and troubleshooting, with a main focus on MS SQL Server. You will work closely with collaborators and multi-functional teams to ensure the performance, security, and reliability of Ferguson's database environment. This is a key position to ensure the smooth operation of critical database systems that support business operations across the organization.
Location: This role is approved to be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Provide technical support within the Operations Center to include proactive and reactive incident resolution.
- Ensure the quality and delivery of technical operations supporting the business in accordance with agreed standards.
- Collaborate with systems analysts, developers, business analysts, and project teams to offer technical assistance.
- Perform proactive reviews of system performance metrics, logs, and alerts to ensure event correlation and trend analysis are performed on a regular basis.
- Provide server and database support, including installation, patching, upgrading, maintenance, restores, and backups on MS SQL Server per Ferguson standards.
- Ensure team documentation is populated with resolutions, workarounds, known issues.
- Assist technical staff with MS SQL Server and associated software packages.
- Stay ahead of the curve when it comes to advancements in database technologies.
- Write, execute, and peer review T-SQL scripts, packages, and functions, and OS-level scripts.
- Create, execute, and report on load testing of databases, and servers.
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to support after hours issues and planned work.
- Minimum of 5 years of MS SQL Server database administration experience.
- BA or BS degree preferred.
- Recent experience and proficiency with Cloud computing platforms, such as Azure, Oracle Cloud, AWS, and GCP.
- Experience with installation, configuration, patching, and support for MS SQL Server 2016 and newer.
- Experience implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions within MS SQL Server.
- Experience with SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS or Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Azure Analysis Services, Azure SQL, and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
- Experience in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
- Experience in an enterprise level production data center environment managing enterprise class MS SQL Server databases.
- Experience in proactively monitoring database health, repairing deadlock errors, performing maintenance packages, monitoring, and indexing strategy.
- Experience in both OLTP databases and OLAP/data warehousing.
- Experience with Databricks Administration is desired.
- MongoDB, Cosmos DB, Postgres, MySql, and Oracle experience is desired.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work multi-functionally in a team environment and independently.
- Ability to handle various tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Skill to follow guidelines, while also applying acquired knowledge to deviate from those guidelines when necessary.

Pay Range:
Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
$5, $9,537.00
Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
