We are looking for a curious, adaptable, and forward-thinking GIS Data Manager to play a key role in analyzing, managing, and building on WDM USA's geospatial assets.
As a GIS Data Manager, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing spatial data and software tools, as well as implementing innovative GIS solutions to support business needs and enhance decision-making. This cross-functional position will join WDM USA's Analytics team and work to identify new analytical approaches to solving data problems. In this role, the motivation to deliver additional value and "get it right" for the clients is critical.
A successful GIS Data Manager candidate will gain experience in multiple facets of transportation analysis and help shape the future of one of the world's leading transportation safety analytics firms.
What You Will Be Doing
- Build, manage, and QA/QC geospatial datasets from multiple sources and data types for a variety of data-related analyses and deliverables
- Maintain, update, and assure quality of new streams of incoming data from a variety of data sources
- Analyze, visualize, and interpret spatial data to provide actionable insights and support decision-making processes
- Write and troubleshoot scripts to resolve issues related to GIS applications, data integrity, and system performance
- Support online, web-enabled, database-managed access to geospatial data
- Participate in industry events and forums to stay current on market trends, best practices, and emerging opportunities to deliver additional value to clients
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience OR Master's degree with 1+ years of experience in a GIS specialist, data manager, developer, or geospatial-related role that managed, maintained, and created geospatial databases
- Experience managing, maintaining, and creating geospatial databases
- Experience using Python (GeoPandas, Shapely, NumPy) and SQL
- Experience using geospatial software such as QGIS or ArcGIS
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across internal/external teams in a distributed team environment
- Demonstrated ability to meet project goals and deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- Transportation or Civil Engineering experience
- Degree in Geography, Computer Science, Geospatial Sciences, or related field
- Proficiency in an additional programming language consistent with large-scale data analytics (R, etc.)
Pay: Salary based upon experience, starting $80k
