Tosoh Bioscience LLC is a major supplier of chromatography products to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical industries. Our product line includes:TSKgel, TOYOPEARL, and Ca++Pure-HA bulk media, TSKgel U/HPLC columns, process development products, dedicated systems for GPC analysis, and the LenS3 MALS detector. We have optimal solutions for biological research, drug discovery, medicinal chemistry, agriculture, manufacturing, or other industrial applications.

Position Summary

The Director of Global Sales leads the sales organization with strategic oversight of North American and European markets in the chromatography and separation industry. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and cultivating a high-performance sales culture. The Director serves as a visionary leader, aligning sales initiatives with corporate goals and fostering cross-functional collaboration.

Reporting Relationships

The Director – Global Sales reports to the Vice President – Separation & Purification. This position has two or more direct reports.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Sales Strategy

  • Define and execute global sales strategies that support long-term business objectives.
  • Set and monitor sales targets and ensure consistent achievement across regions.
  • Develop creative solutions and implement technology, tools, and communication to keep commercial team motivated.
  • Identify emerging market trends to identify growth opportunities, monitor competitive threats to inform strategic decisions.

Leadership and Management

  • Mentor, guide and coach direct and indirect reports in order to expand their capabilities and build knowledge and technical depth within the organization, and to help ensure business continuity.
  • Recruit and retain top talent for the Sales team.
  • Ensure that training, coaching and mentoring programs are developed, implemented and effective for all levels of sales staff.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Conduct performance reviews to guide performance management, employee development efforts, and manage toward departmental goals.
  • Demonstrate a high standard of work ethic and professionalism to subordinates, peers, and superiors at all times.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Oversee global sales budgets including the sales and profitability plan, expense plan, and sales funnel for each region.
  • Track and report on sales performance, forecasts, and KPIs.
  • Ensure efficient resource allocation and cost-effective operations.

Customer Engagement

  • Build and maintain executive level relationships with key customers, distributors, and strategic partners.
  • Ensure that the sales process works smoothly from lead generation and qualification through purchasing to post-sales support.
  • Represent Tosoh Bioscience at industry events, conferences, and trade shows as a collaborative leader.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Marketing, Product Management, Operations, Quality, and R&D to align sales efforts with product innovation, market needs, and promotional strategies.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination across departments to ensure unified execution.

  • Uphold and adhere to the Tosoh Bioscience culture and guiding principles.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive sales experience in the life sciences or analytical instrumentation industry.
  • 5+ years in senior sales leadership roles with an international scope.
  • 4+ years of capital equipment experience
  • Proven success in leading international sales teams and achieving revenue targets.
  • Strong understanding of chromatography technologies and the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Exceptional leadership and strategic thinking skills.

  • Must be a mentor, a team-player, an effective collaborator, and a self-motivator

  • Proficiency in CRM systems, data analytics, and sales enablement platforms.
  • Proven ability to identify, establish, and maintain strong relationships with potential customers including scientists, senior management, and purchasing groups.
  • Excellent presentation skills; fluent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to get along with others and succeed in a team environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approx. 40%).
