Passage Health is a fast-growing start-up, on a mission to improve the quality and accessibility of autism care through dynamic software solutions.  The diagnosis rate for autism has skyrocketed in the last 10 years to 1 in 31 children.  Those children will have to wait up to 1 year to receive therapy as service providers, hampered by antiquated technology, are struggling to meet surging demand. We are building a modern electronic medical record (EMR) that will revolutionize the $460B autism care market. 

As a Senior Platform Engineer you will take an active role in shaping technology, infrastructure, and security decisions, working directly with the co-founders and engineering team. We are looking for collaborative, pragmatic, and ambitious engineers who want to make a tremendous impact on providers and patients alike. You will take ownership and help shape many components across the stack: database performance and pipelines, cloud infrastructure, observability and reliability, developer tooling, testing, continuous delivery, and more. You will help build out the platform team and foster a collaborative team environment. You will have opportunities to learn and grow and achieve goals well beyond this job description. This position is NYC hybrid / remote.

What You'll Do

• Design & Build: Architect, develop, and maintain the foundational systems that power Passage's modern EMR — including databases, pipelines, and infrastructure.
  
  
• Optimize & Scale: Lead performance tuning, reliability improvements, and scalability initiatives across our platform stack.
  
  
• Own the Platform: Manage core cloud infrastructure, observability systems, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth, reliable deployments.
  
  
• Enhance Developer Experience: Build internal tools and automation that improve developer productivity, testing, and release workflows.
  
  
• Drive Technical Direction: Collaborate with leadership and peers to set technical strategy, establish best practices, and shape the platform roadmap.
  
  
• Mentor & Lead: Support and mentor other engineers, helping to foster a strong, collaborative engineering culture.
  
  
• Champion Security & Reliability: Partner across teams to ensure data integrity, system security, and operational excellence in a regulated healthcare environment.

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in databases, data pipelining, observability, developer tooling, and related topics — ideally in SaaS or health tech.
• Significant depth with more than one programming language or framework, and you have experience shipping into production.
• Resilient and proactive, thriving on complex challenges in fast-paced, unstructured environments.
• Strong judgement and collaboration skills, enabling you to influence cross-functional teams and deliver lasting results.
• Bias toward action and ownership — able to drive your own workstreams, make decisions, and execute with little direction.
• Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated environments.
• A personal connection to autism or autism care is a plus.
