Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our team at Avery Animal Clinic. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to pets while assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in various tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of animal handling, veterinary terminology, and the ability to work efficiently with a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in technical skills, including IV catheter placement, ear and skin cytology, in-house lab diagnostics, radiographs
  • Assist veterinarians in surgical procedures, if needed, including patient prep and sterile technique; anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Support patient care from intake through discharge, ensuring comfort, safety, and accurate record-keeping
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients in order to provide updates on patient status; educate on home care, treatment plans, and preventive care and help clients feel confident and informed about their pet's health
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow technicians, assistants, and veterinarians to ensure seamless patient care and efficient workflow
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful work culture, bringing a team player attitude every day
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient clinic environment in accordance with safety and infection control standards

Experience

  • 2-3 years minimum as a licensed/registered veterinary technician.
  • Familiarity with veterinary terminology and animal anatomy.
  • Has proven to have strong communication skills for educating clients about pet health.
  • Worked effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
