The Assistant Director of Technology  at St. Luke's School is responsible for supporting the Director of Technology in leading the strategic and operational management of technology systems throughout the School. This includes overseeing infrastructure, academic technology, cyber security, user support, and data systems. Additionally, this role requires a service-oriented team player approach, rooted in both technical expertise and a collaborative mindset, ensuring technology enhances teaching, learning, and administrative operations.

Assistant Director of Technology

Academic and Administrative Systems
Support the integration and management of core systems such as Veracross (SIS), Clarity (financial aid), Google Workspace, and classroom applications.Manage database integration and migrations.Work with academic leaders to support effective and responsible technology use in classrooms.Collaborate with business office, admissions, and development staff to understand technology needs and streamline data management and workflows.Cyber Security and Risk Management
Implement and monitor data protection, access control, and privacy best practices.Support regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and staff cybersecurity training.Maintain incident response documentation and ensure business continuity procedures are current.User Support and Training
Supervise and mentor IT support staff to provide excellent service to faculty, students, and parents.Serve as a second-tier escalation point for complex technical issues.Develop and maintain technology guides, FAQs, and onboarding materials.Coordinate and lead technology professional learning for faculty and staff.Systems and Infrastructure
Support the maintenance, security, and reliability of network, server, and cloud infrastructure (Wi-Fi, firewalls, switches, backups, etc.).Coordinate with external vendors regarding systems infrastructure support and integrationManage hardware audits and device lifecycle for faculty, staff, and student hardware (laptops, iPads, peripherals).Assist in evaluating and implementing new technologies aligned with the school's strategic goals.Project Management and Strategy
Lead or support IT projects, including infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, and new integrations.Create implementation plans to solve people-facing technology problemsAssist in developing and managing the IT budget and vendor relationships.Participate in strategic planning, helping align technology initiatives with the school's mission and long-term goals.

Be present and on-time to assigned duties.Participate in and attend faculty/staff meetings and committees, including school-wide initiatives about issues of equity, pedagogy and curriculum.Participate in the life of the school, including attendance at required events such as curriculum night, parent conferences, grade-level cocktail party, Christmas Fair, Spring Benefit, and school games and events.Enforce school policies and rules with students.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite Faculty members also need to be proficient with Google Classroom and have the ability to use classroom technology such as Smart Boards, Zoom, etc. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.Minimum 5 years of experience in IT systems administration, network management, or educational technology, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.Preferable experience in K-12 institutions (an independent school environment)  or higher educationStrong understanding of network protocols, device management (e.g., JAMF, Meraki), cloud platforms (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365), and data security best practices.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage complex projects impacting multiple constituents and prioritize clearly with a sense of urgency and effectiveness.Ability to work collaboratively, balance multiple projects, and respond flexibly in a fast-paced school environment.
