The Role: As Director, SDE, for Real-Time Communications, you'll lead multiple high-impact product and engineering teams driving Connect's voice and telephony innovation. You'll shape how businesses leverage advanced technologies like AI-powered voice, speech analytics, and natural language processing while maintaining carrier-grade reliability across global telecommunications infrastructure.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive product and engineering strategy for Connect's voice platform serving billions of minutes of customer communications annually
  • Drive innovation in voice AI and rich communications experiences that will impact millions of customer interactions daily
  • Lead strategic initiatives that bridge traditional telephony with next-generation digital experiences
  • Build and maintain relationships with telecommunications carriers and technology partners to ensure enterprise-grade voice quality and reliability
  • Lead multiple product and engineering teams delivering features and technology support spanning voice infrastructure, call quality monitoring, global telephony, and voice AI
  • Define and execute strategy for global voice coverage and quality
  • Create and deliver compelling content including executive presentations, technical demonstrations, and thought leadership
  • Partner with sales, marketing, and solution architects to drive customer adoption and growth
  • Work with a diverse portfolio of Fortune 500 customers across financial services, healthcare, retail, and travel industries

Basic Qualifications

  • 15+ years of enterprise software experience with focus on real-time communications
  • Bachelor's degree (MBA or MS in Computer Science preferred)
  • Deep knowledge of telecommunications, VoIP, and enterprise voice technologies
  • Experience with global telecommunications infrastructure and carrier relationships
  • Proven track record of public speaking and delivering executive-level presentations
  • Experience leading multiple product teams and driving cross-functional initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record of driving product and engineering strategy for cloud-native voice services
  • Strong understanding of voice AI technologies and speech processing
  • Experience working with global telecom regulations and compliance
  • Deep knowledge of AWS services and cloud computing

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $264,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
